14×20” Acrylic painting on thick canvas
Even a a child I was drawn to people of older age, mostly because of their compelling wisdom, and the interesting stories that they told. I painted this when I was 18 and a freshman in college, for an assignment in a painting class. It was a "Photo Realism" assignment, and I looked long and hard for the photo I wanted to create a painting from and finally selected this one. I was just drawn to him, a granfatherly man with kind eyes and a friendly look. I spent over 125 hours creating this portrait, a labor of love, and receive a grade of triple A+ for it!
